Montepescali in Grosseto has been a free municipality since 1147. The Ildebrando Imberciadori museum of local history aims to pass down the history, traditions and customs of Montepescali to future generations.

The museum is located in the headquarters of the civic administration of Montepescali. It is divided into several exhibition halls and a gallery showing documents from ancient times through to the Middle Ages and today. There are also artifacts, old-time clocks, a guillotine and various tools which were once indispensable to country-style living.
