A high-level scenic and cultural experience, our itinerary will take us to discover the Certosa of Florence with a morning guided tour of one hour inside the various buildings of the complex: the Church, the Chapter House, the Cloister and the Cells. We will then begin our journey surrounded by the beautiful Galluzzo countryside, among tiny medieval cobblestone alleys with stone walls, heading then to the famous hillside area of Arcetri.
We will discover unique nooks and crannies off the beaten track of mass tourism, walking the streets called "Coste" and "Erte", typical of the Oltrarno area: each street a story, from Tchaikovski to Ottone Rosai. We will marvel at the views of Pian de' Giullari, while Villa il Gioiello and San Matteo in Arcetri will remind us of the story of Galileo and Sister Celeste.
The church of S. Felice ad Ema will also be an off-the-beaten-path discovery, the imposing architecture of Forte Belvedere will introduce a beautiful downhill walk through Costa S. Giorgio, where famous buildings such as Villa Bardini and Galileo Galilei's house are located.
An itinerary not to be missed.
Fun fact: the Certosa del Galluzzo when viewed from the outside, it does not look like an abbey but rather resembles more an ancient feudal castle. The Certosa stands on a rocky spur with the Palazzo degli Studi and the monks' cells that together form a small ideal city.
