Pania di Corfino is an imposing calcareous massif that stands out from the Apennines, leaning towards the Garfagnana, which seems still to observe and protect it.
Its ascent is a classic, a magnificent itinerary that crosses the heart of "Parco dell'Orecchiella" and touches the splendid environments of the Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco Emiliano.
Right after the Pruno pasture and the large scree of Grottacce, where it is not uncommon to see an eagle flying, we arrive at the picturesque shepherds village of Campaiana, where the ascent to the peak begins. At the summit the view is incredible. The entire Garfagnana valley is at our feet, with the Apennines behind, and with the sharp Apuan Alps in front of us.
Magic for the eyes and the heart!
