A half-day circular route with an environmental hiking guide towards the Pania di Corfino, at sunset with the possibility to dine and stay overnight at the Isera Refuge.

After meeting up near the Isera refuge, at the foot of the Pania di Corfino, and having a short briefing on how to face the excursion, we will begin our journey through a beautiful beech forest climbing up to a grassy pass that will offer us the first view of some Apennine peaks.

The path is easy and pleasant. You climb the main ridge from where the view sweeps and gives us a breathtaking view. The chain of the Apuan Alps shows itself in all its entirety as a splendid skyline; below, the characteristic village of Corfino and the whole Garfagnana valley. This is the ideal point to observe the sunset while toasting in front of the cross at the summit of Pania di Corfino which, with its 1,603 meters, represents one of the most panoramic views of the area.

If we are lucky we will spot some herds of mouflons, and maybe even the golden eagle that nests among these rocks.

We will begin our descent at dusk, using the headlamps made available by the organization.

The descent path will take place from the rocky part of the mountain to complete our itinerary that will bring us back to the refuge, after passing the Botanical Garden. At the Isera Refuge whoever wants could enjoy a dish of the typical Garfagnana cuisine prepared by Davide and Francesca. For those who wish, by reservation, will be also the possibility to stay overnight in the refuge or in a tent in the campsite next to the refuge and to make an excursion in the National Park also the following morning.
