This is a weekly tour that take place every Sunday morning at 9:30 am, where we leave for our route. From the small village of Torrite we will go up to the Fortress of Monte Alfonso, which dominates the hill above Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. Starting from there, a series of paths will allow us to cross numerous small villages.
Splendid views of the Apennine peaks, chestnut woods and naturalistic areas of great value will accompany the rides, which in some sections will be challenging due to the slope of the track.
After the umpteenth village, we will change direction, and along a dirt road, which crosses a vast forest, we will reach the village of Roggio, where Andrea will welcome and let us taste the typical products of the territory (cost not included in the package). We will eat in a large outside veranda in summer or in the beautiful indoor room in other seasons. During the meal, we will be able to recharge the batteries of our MTBs.
After lunch, we will continue to climb for another 4km to reach the highest point of our itinerary, the ancient pasture of Campocatino in the presence of the splendid Monte Roccandagia.
The landscapes of this valley, ancient villages, lakes and peaks of the Apuan Alps that overlook them, will allow us to admire unique landscapes. From Campocatino our route will be mainly downhill and will take us towards the Serchio river.
So here is another highlight of this fantastic tour: crossing the Serchio river on the highest stone railway bridge of Europe. We will change the side of the valley but the splendid paths and panoramic views will continue until we reach Pontecosi and its homonymous lake, before closing the ring of this route through Garfagnana.
